Questions parents ask
What is a number bond, and why does it matter?
A number bond is a pair of numbers that add up to a target — bonds to 10 are 0+10, 1+9, 2+8 and so on. Children who know their bonds instantly don't have to count on their fingers for every sum, which makes addition and subtraction much faster.
What maths should my Reception child know?
Counting to 10 and then 20, recognising written numbers, and simple ideas like more, fewer and first patterns. Our Reception page covers it with a free pack.
How much maths practice is enough?
A few minutes a day beats one long weekly session. Short, playful practice — counting stairs, spotting numbers, one worksheet — builds number sense without battles.
